It is also unusual as it is an “all glass fibre” model with the superstructure and the hull being moulded from glass fibre resin.

This can be operated with cables or “snakes” or even with solid push-pull steering linkages for maximum power transmission from the steering servo (no power loss or possible binding).
Another method that is often used on model outboard motors to give the steering connection is to centrally mount a steering post onto the outboard motor unit.
This can then be connected like a tiller arm and operated like a regular rudder.
Outboard motor drive is fascinating, I don’t currently have a boat driven with an outboard motor ……….

My plan was to fix some plastic pieces onto the outboard and then use an aircraft snake to move it to basically replicate the real thing. Another method is to run fishing line inside brass tubes either side of the motor which would push and pull.
The outboard I'm using for my outboard project is much bigger and has connection points for the servo rods on both sides and so works like a rudder hung off the stern post - fine if the boat is enclosed to hide the servo and rods but not if it's open.
How did Bob attach the steering arm on his outboard?
The video doesn’t show much for that detail and there doesn’t appear to be a very wide range of motion.
Very nice-looking model! I especially loved watching it go around the ducks.
They didn’t seem too surprised at all to see this strange-looking duck making such a strange sound! 😂
I guess they’ve seen stranger things at the lake!
Great job, and thanks for sharing!
Judging from the comments, some are able to see the videos and some are not, so I don’t know what to do about it.
If Eddie has his outboard Fisherman with him next week, I will take some pictures of it and try again to make a better video in the hope that it will work for everyone as it should.
