À propos de ce bateau

Here is my Monterey built about 1/2 scale from the plans which were downloaded from www.aerofred.com.

Construction of the keel and hull ribs is 1/16" basswood. The sides and deck are planked with 1/32" thick strips of basswood running horizontally along the hull. The superstructure is pretty much balsa.

Before painting, the hull gaps between the planking was filled with automotive spot putty, and sanded smooth.

Like my Beaver Tugboat, the model felt lightweight when finished, so I added plaster of paris to the inside of the hull for additional weight.

    Good show CJ👍
A vid of her sea trials would be good as well.
Like the prop making jig as well👍 must try that.
Still got some old US quarters kicking about somewhere.
Thinks: I've also still got some ancient Arabian coins in the collection from my travels, they already have 'oles in the middle😊
    Cheers, Doug 😎

    Yes,

All of my boats have a homemade prop.
Again, I think I got the plan from the Marinecraft website.

I made a jig out of a US Quarter. Drilled a #4 clearance hole in the middle to put a 4-40 screw through. I can then roughly cut a piece of brass to the circumference with a hole in the middle, and clamp it with a screw and nut with the "quarter" jig to make the fine cut and file around to get the circle. The lobes are cut in at 120 degree intervals, which also are marked on the quarter jig, then bent and rounded to shape. I also solder a brass washer to give it strength on the prop shaft.

Nice work, especially for a first build, good job!

Is that a home built prop that I see in the photo?

Nice looking boat! I recently discovered the aerofred.com website, some really good boat plans there in addition the the airplanes. I'm always looking and collecting plans for future builds. Great site, thanks for mentioning it.

    Thanks,
This was a fun build, however being on the small side, my planking was probably too thick, or should have been out of balsa.
